Privacy Policy

Short version: We collect only what we need to run the platform. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. You can delete your account and data at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains what information GigLynq collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using GigLynq you agree to this policy.

1. What We Collect

Account information — your name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), and your role (band or venue).

Profile information — anything you choose to add to your profile: bio, location, genres, social media links, photos, videos, and booking preferences. This information is publicly visible on GigLynq.

Activity data — show listings you post, applications you submit, messages you send, and bookings you confirm. Messages between bands and venues are private and only visible to the two parties in the conversation.

Analytics data — which profiles have been viewed and when. This is used to power the analytics dashboard and is only visible to the profile owner.

Payment information — if you subscribe to GigLynq Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

2. What We Don't Collect

  • We don't track you across other websites
  • We don't sell your data to anyone
  • We don't show you ads based on your data
  • We don't share your data with third parties except as described below

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and improve the GigLynq platform
  • To match bands and venues through Discover and Gig Radar
  • To send you transactional emails (booking confirmations, account verification, password resets)
  • To power your analytics dashboard (profile view counts and viewer details)
  • To process your subscription payments through Stripe
  • To prevent fraud and abuse on the platform

4. Who We Share Data With

We share minimal data with the following service providers, solely to operate the platform:

  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (verification emails, booking notifications)
  • Cloudinary — image storage for profile photos and cover images
  • Railway — database hosting (PostgreSQL)
  • Vercel — application hosting

These providers process your data only as necessary to provide their services to us. We do not authorize them to use your data for their own purposes.

5. Public vs. Private Information

Public — your profile name, photo, location, bio, genres, social links, and show listings are visible to all GigLynq users and may be indexed by search engines.

Private — your email address, messages with other users, booking details, payment information, and analytics data are private and never displayed publicly.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access — you can view all the information on your profile at any time
  • Edit — you can update your profile information at any time from your profile settings
  • Delete — you can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing chris@giglynq.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • Opt out of emails — you can unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer. Anonymized analytics data (with no personal identifiers) may be retained indefinitely.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our database. However, no system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at chris@giglynq.app.

9. Children's Privacy

GigLynq is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email.
